As requested by the mods, I shall start this community off. So, come hither children~

In the recent episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist, it's been revealed that the Homunculus are beings created through the experimentation of human transmutation. Also, we are introduced to the character of Wrath, a Homunculus child that Izumi suspects to harbor the soul of her son who died as an infant. As a result, Izumi too have attempted human transmutation to revive her infant (I think the child may have died a childbirth, since the baby looks very tiny). Now there's a theory that Sloth may be the soul of the human transmutation that Ed and Al have attempted, the creature that is supposed to be their "mother." Lust, too, may have been the soul of the woman that Scar have seen in his flashbacks, and that perhaps Scar's brother have taken a shot at human transmutation as well. One of the reasons that I believe this is that now we know that Lust and Sloth are the younger Homunculus/Sins, since apparently Greed is sealed by Envy a century ago. Plus, Greed have no knowledge of Lust and Sloth (if he does, then there is no need for Envy to say that "a Lust was born, too").

Thus, to start off this community, is there any rebuttals to this theory? Or any other evidence that may support this theory?

I apologize to those that have not seen up to ep. 31 but the mods are currently knocked out in their beds and I really have no idea on a general topic to discuss. There's no need to reiterate this but please stick to the rules, 'mmmkay?

The thing is... That kid is not in the manga. :D; Or hasn't appeared yet, I'm not sure.

The anime and manga is kinda like going in two seperate ways. Everything after the events in the prison seems a bit different but they still somehow connect to the manga. It's kinda confusing, really. @_@;; Like that explosion alchemist (Kimbley? I don't watch subs so I'm not sure how to spell his name) is still imprisoned in the manga and Sloth has only appeared in one panel (in a manga chapter that's not in tankoubon yet) so far, the black-haired kid's not there and the explanation on how the homunculus are born isn't revealed in the manga yet.

Judging from anime ep 32, they're finally going into manga vol 7. Outline-wise, they're following the manga's plot. But event-wise, things are happening differently than in the manga, so... It kinda makes me feel like the anime is spoiling the manga for me but it's hard to say that because the manga might go differently... @_@;;

Oh, for Wrath's identity, highlight(hope this works, or not, screen this comment):

It's the fuhrer. His left eye, which is under the patch, bears the homunculus symbol.

yeah i saw that at the end but does that automatically mean he's a homunculus? cos yeah i'm still kinda questioning that...and why wrath and not pride? did i miss that sin too? gawd...

highlight for more, don't if ya don't wanna get spoiled.
he has nice moves tho, as in, his swordplay is sosososososo fast...he's slicing and dicing greed faster than he could heal...and i like greed =( would be painful to see him get offed...he kept asking the poor guy how many more times would he like to die...talk about rubbing it in, man...

Re: etto...

Oh, I got this info from a friend of mine who follows the FMA manga by reading GanGan so she's further away from tankoubon 7 now. She's the one who told me that Wrath's identity was revealed later. Pride hasn't shown up and she said Sloth has appeared in only one panel of a chapter that's not in tankoubon yet. So, nope, you're not missing anything. ^_^;

Spoiler talk again, highlight to read:
Dangit, I HATE the fuhrer in that scene, torturing Greed like that. I like Greed, too. ;__; My friend already told me what happened to Greed at the end but it's not good news...

Oh, and the fuhrer actually said "So how many times do I have to kill you for you to die?"

Re: etto...

heeeeh so that what he said eh? couldn't rememebr properly since i was recalling it from the top of my head in the office...

spoilage, wahoo!!
(and i was actually talking bout what i gleaned that off the fma pamphlet that came with vol 7 ^^;...i think he was counting the times greed or lust or envy, one of these three, died, tho i think maybe he;s talking to lust this time around, and he was sorta wondering how many more times will there, should there be...) noooo don't tell me greed'll be the first to kick the bucket...all he wanted was to be rich and famous...ok maybe more than that but he's /greed/ come on! only natural he'd want that. noooo...ya know, he's the most human out of the lot. wanting all that mankind foolishly desire as well...i don't see the others acting too much like their namesake (sans gluttony),yet...not the way greed does anyway. xD

Subtle Spoiler?

<3 Thanks so much yo.

Yeah, my friend told me that the freaky little kid is an anime original character. I guess the story has to deviate away from the manga a little if it's going to be around 50 episodes or so. I personally can't see FMA lasting longer than that because the storyline will become too stretched out I suppose?

According to what I've found online, homunculi are created with "a bag of bones, sperm, skin fragments and hair from any animal you wanted it to be a hybrid of. This was to be laid in the ground surrounded by horse manure for forty days, at which point the embryo would form. This supposed beast relied upon the theories of spontaneous generation." But I doubt that it's what the the Seven Sins are made of, since they're obviously more than 12 inches tall (that's how tall a homunculus is supposed to be). Plus, methinks Arakawa-sensee will not use the original "recipe" *because it's disgusting XD;;*.

Somehow I expected that it's him. Do you know what his intentions are? And err, does Greed want or do not want to become human?

Re: Subtle Spoiler?

Urgh, that IS a disgusting recipe. XDD;; Thank God Sensei decided to change it.

Nope, don't know Wrath's intentions yet. I'm currently forcing myself to not get spoiled more on the upcoming vol 8 than I already have. @_@;

And nope, Greed doesn't want to become a human. Anime ep 33 should explain why.

Re: Subtle Spoiler?

I won't attempt it, but it'll be interesting if it'll work LOL

Wrath is such a mystery, but Pride is even more of a mystery. Do you have any speculations on who he/she is?

I thought so, perhaps that's why Lust says that he'll cause trouble for them. But he's so likable, I hope he'll survive ^^;; Do you know how many tankoubons is Arakawa-sensei is planning to publish?

Re: Subtle Spoiler?

A long time ago my friend and I thought Ed might be Pride because his father seems like he might have a connection with the homunculus, but Ed's not a homunculus. *_*; Well... The kid might be Pride, then? Manga-wise, not sure, of course.

Arakawa-sensei hasn't mentioned how long the series will be. Mangaka's usually don't plan that far because there are many times they thought they would finish the series at vol 10-ish but it went on to vol 30-ish. *_*; (This is a true story) Guess we'll just have to follow behind...
