First of all, welcome~! Second of all, a semi-substantial post regarding the speculation I've been hearing here and there, so I thought it appropriate to discuss it here. ^__^

Any ideas or speculation to who might Ed and Al's father be? Think he's already been introduced in the series? Think it might be someone who has yet to be seen in the series? Any theories to who he is, where he is, what might he be doing and why he just dumped his wife and his children and left?

The only clear-cut rumor that I believe in right now is that their father is somehow connected with the homunculus (it always seems to boil down to them, doesn't it?). Perhaps the one who created them, perhaps the one who is currently controlling them, perhaps doing both. Although, that theory has a tad problem, as chocolate_chip suggested while I was talking with her, because it seems that the homunculus have been around for a long long time. For him to be a creator, he'd have had to existed for a long time. Still, the father does seem to be the tad sketchy type, doesn't he? So while it's unreasonable, I can't really scratch out that reason. After some of the things that have happened in the series ...

Anyway, enough of my babble. What are you own theories and ideas about the mysterious, currently faceless, father figure of the series?

[PS, apologizes to any incoherentness or overall suckiness of this. Like Hisso said in an earlier comment, i - neither of us - can discuss FMA very well. My fingers just won't type. Strangeness. @_@]

Well, I do think that he has something to do with the homunculi. I can't say exactly why I think that; I think something along those lines was mentioned, but I don't remember what it was.

I know this idea doesn't exactly make sense, but with some of the other stuff that's happened, anything is possible.........

I still think Ed and Al's father might be Scar's brother.

*hides*

I know, I know, there are a million reasons why he can't be, but wouldn't that be COOL?

I understand what you mean; I feel the same way too. There is some connection, a big and important one that everyone seems to be glazing over - probably purely because it hasn't been mentioned yet. It seems like once the details are shown, it'd be one of the more obvious things. Either that or randomly totally out there that makes us all go O-o in awe of it.

It's a possibility~ I never said it wasn't possible. It's a more feasible idea once you've thought about it some. At least with me it was. ^^ It would be cool. :o Scar would be Ed and Al's uncle! That'd be weird.

I think he's definitely connected to them. Envy keeps on talking about how Ed is of that person's blood, and at one point, he refer's to Ed as "his son" or something of the sort. Which would suggest that he's talking about Hohenheim, and really hates him for some reason.

The problem, like you mentioned, is that Envy is one of the homunculi that is over a hundred years old (he said so to Greed). So perhaps Hohenheim has recently done something to the homunculi? Also, it seems that many of the homunculi were created by different people. So is Hohenheim just Envy's creator? Or is there perhaps some other reason? I tend to believe that Hohenheim is not one of the characters that has been seen so far, if for no other reason that the characters know what he looks like, even if we don't.

This is a longshot but, if I'm not mistaken Ed and Al's papa was named Hohenheim? I was looking at stuff about the Homunculus online and I found that the person who claimed to have created the homunculus was named Theophrastus Bombastus Von Hohenheim (more widely known as Paracelsus). If I remember correctly, he also did research on the Philosopher's Stone so perhaps Ed and Al are descendants of Von Hohenheim? Or maybe their father is the original Hohenheim who've created the Homunculus, as well as succeeding in creating then Philosopher's Stone, therefore Hohenheim has lived for centuries? LOL, I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense. Again, it's a longshot I tell you.
